The Department of Homeland Security advises that essential workers include those that construct and maintain critical and strategic infrastructure. As part of the dredging industry, we are glad to see our fellow contractors able jump to the call and ensure clear navigation for the USNS Comfort as it makes its way to Manhattan.
The ship boats over 1,000 beds and will serve as a relief hospital for non-Coronavirus patients in an effort to ease the pressure on NYC's land-based hospitals.
We thank our employees at Mike Hooks and others throughout the maritime sector for continuing to answer the call to maintain these and other critical infrastructure systems.
Dredging Contractors of America
The Administration at Mike Hooks has been closely following the development and updates of COVID-19.
Recently, the State of Louisiana issued a Stay-at-Home Order but exempts employees involved in "construction of critical or strategic infrastructure" as defined by this Memo issued by CISA.gov.
As a Contractor tasked with maintaining waterways for the Corps of Engineers, Mike Hooks employees are exempt from the Stay-at-Home order.
Mike Hooks will continue normal operational and hiring activities unless directed otherwise.
We continue to encourage employees to follow the CDC Guidelines for COVID-19.
